My 2017 GMC Terrain will not play music from Spotify. I don’t have ApplePlay or IntelliLink, but I do have bluetooth and a USB. Phone is paired and Bluetooth works to connect phone calls but not music. I can’t select AUX as a source when iPhone is plugged into USB – it’s greyed out. When I first plug in USB message on screen says “No music files found.”
Wow, this one was tricky! We did an internet search and field testing to solve this mystery.
- You need at least one song in your iTunes/Music Library on your iPhone. Tip: If you don’t have one, and like us don’t feel like paying for a song from iTunes, try downloading a free generic song from YouTube Creator Studio (Create / Audio Library).
- Plug your iPhone into your GMC Terrain via USB cord.
- The one song in your Music Library on your iPhone will start playing automatically through your GMC’s speakers. Now you can open Spotify and navigate as you normally would to play a song. The song should play through your car’s speakers!

I would like to chime in here- I don’t use Apple music and have the app deleted because I was sick of it automatically starting every single time I plugged it in. Also, I can’t have my phone charging and play the music through Bluetooth connection at the same time either.
One method is to download and convert Spotify to MP3 with the help of Allavsoft.
I was having the same issue as well. I found if you didnt touch the “ok” button on the screen, when it pops up that their is no media found on this device, I was able to use spotify fine. My only issue is that it isn’t hands free. I would have to use my phone to change songs and turn up the volume.
What is the best way to play music from your iphone, and able to change songs without using the phone? I’m new to iphone so dont have any music apps as of yet other then spotify.
To play Spotify music on GMC Terrain, the best way is to use DRmare Music Converter to help you, which can get Spotify music as local files and then transfer them to GMC Terrain for offline playback without any limitation.
